A biscuit jointer (or plate joiner) is used in woodworking to join two pieces of wood together. It cuts a crescent-shaped hole (called a mortise) in the opposite edges of two pieces of wood and then inserts a biscuit (a small oval-shaped piece of wood or composite material) into the mortises. The biscuit expands when glued, creating a strong bond between the two pieces.
